Winners of the FOR UKRAINE Programme

The two scholars will carry out the project “‘I Survived the Nazis, and I Will Survive the Rashists’: The Second World War and the Holocaust in the Ukrainian Discourse About the Russo–Ukrainian War.” The research will cover analysis and interpretation of the comparisons present in the Ukrainian public discourse which juxtapose the ongoing Russo–Ukrainian War with the Second World War and the Holocaust. The project will rely on a database of over 65 thousand records collected automatically on the Internet. The researchers will investigate how historical analogies shape the perception of the Russian invasion, how they change the Ukrainians’ collective memory in this sphere, and how the two processes influence each other.
