AcademiaNet
Support for Increasing the Visibility of Women Researchers in Expert Bodies and Public Discourse
Description
The Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) became the first Polish partner of AcademiaNet, a project launched in 2010 in Germany by the Robert Bosch Foundation and the publisher Spektrum der Wissenschaft.
AcademiaNet operates as an international platform showcasing outstanding women researchers. The platform promotes the achievements of women scientists and increases their participation in academic and scientific advisory and decision-making bodies. Since 2020, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) has managed the platform’s activities.
Scientific partners of the initiative, including institutions such as the Max Planck Society and the Wellcome Trust, nominate female researchers every year for inclusion in the publicly accessible database.
The Foundation for Polish Science nominates Polish women researchers to participate in the project. Currently, the National Science Centre in Poland also holds the right to nominate candidates.
So far, the Foundation has nominated several dozen women researchers for participation in the initiative.
