
Winners of first TEAM-TECH competition announced

"The Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) has announced the results of the first competition in the TEAM-TECH programme, in which grants are awarded to research teams to conduct R&D work on development of technologies or products based on scientific discoveries.
There were 38 projects submitted for the first competition, of which eight obtained funding totalling PLN 25 million. The funding comes from the EU?s Smart Growth Operating Programme 2014?2020. More competitions will be held until the end of 2019, at an average of twice per year. The next round of applications begins 15 November 2016.
The winners of the first competition will carry out their projects at research institutions and in scientific/industrial consortia. Each team will cooperate with at least one commercial partner, and some of the grant recipients will have several of them. In all, a total of 14 companies will be involved in these projects. The funds from FNP will enable financing of at least 43 jobs for researchers employed on the projects and 48 stipends for young researchers (undergraduates and PhD students) involving in implementation of the research work.

The TEAM-TECH programme, launched in 2016, offers funding for research teams headed by distinguished scientists pursuing R&D projects in cooperation with a commercial partner in development of technologies, processes, and innovative products. Funding can be obtained to implement projects lasting up to 3 years (with the possibility of an extension for a further 2 years). It is recommended that the project budget not exceed PLN 3.5 million. Projects may be carried out at research institutions or enterprises or in scientific/industrial consortia in Poland. Applications may be filed by persons holding at least a doctorate.
