Winner of the START FNP Program Publishes in the Prestigious Nature Protocols

"Dr. Karolina Finc from the Centre for Modern Interdisciplinary Technologies, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, a laureate of the START program of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), co-authored an article in the prestigious journal Nature Protocols. The article entitled ?Analysis of task-based functional MRI data preprocessed with fMRIPrep? was created during Finc?s START study visit at the Poldrack Lab, Department of Psychology at Stanford University. Finc was involved in the creation of open-source software, which aims to increase the reproducibility of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) tests, namely the imaging of brain activity. Finc was involved in improving the software, refining documentation, data visualization, and writing the article. ?It was a very valuable experience for me, which would not have been possible without the FNP support,? says Finc. ?At present, I support the development of four projects and coordinate one of them. Their goal is to develop software dedicated to fMRI data analysis in Python.? Moreover, Finc?s work on open-source projects was recognized this year with the international ReproNim/INCF stipend as part of the year-long Train-the-Trainer scholarship program, sponsored by the Center for Reproducible Neuroimaging Computation (ReproNim) and the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF). Ten scholarships were awarded this year, and Finc was the only Pole to receive one.
