In March 2019 experts from the European Commission conducted an audit of the correctness of FNP?s implementation of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The evaluation was positive and the Foundation?s distinction of HR Excellence in Research was maintained.
The European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers were adopted by the European Commission in 2005 and set forth recommendations defining the roles, rights and duties of researchers, including employers and grantmakers. Institutions meeting the requirements set forth in the Charter and Code receive the right to use the title of HR Excellence in Research. This prestigious distinction is one of the measures pursued by the European Commission as part of its Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, aimed at improving the working conditions and career development opportunities of scientists in the European Union.
In 2012 the Foundation for Polish Science became the first institution in Poland to win the HR Excellence in Research distinction for implementation of the Charter and Code.
In accordance with the Commission?s requirements, the Foundation conducted an internal evaluation of implementation of the Charter and Code principles in 2014 and again in 2017. In March 2019 the standards of the Foundation?s operations in the context of the Charter and Code underwent an external examination by experts from the European Commission. The assessment went very well, and the Foundation has consequently retained the distinction of HR Excellence in Research.
