EMBO Programmes across Europe

Published: %s 09 November 2022
"Until the end of 2024, life scientists in or going to Poland can apply for the following EMBO Programmes. POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS Supporting internationally mobile postdoctoral researchers in Europe and around the world EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships support excellent postdoctoral researchers throughout Europe and the world for a period of up to two years. International mobility is a key requirement. The fellowship includes a salary or stipend, a relocation allowance and support for fellows with children. Awardees can attend an EMBO Laboratory Leadership course and become part of the global network of EMBO Fellows. Five additional EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships are reserved for researchers applying to work in one of the following countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia, and Turkey. In addition, an interview by an EMBO Member or Young Investigator is now guaranteed to the researchers applying to work in those countries, provided their application passes initial screening for overall quality. These will thereby enter the final shortlist for consideration by the Fellowship Committee. EMBO considers a first author refereed preprint equivalent to a first author publication as one of the eligibility and assessment criteria for the EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme. Applications are accepted throughout the year. ADVANCED COLLABORATION GRANTS Supporting group leaders in participating countries to develop collaborative projects The applicant must be an active research scientist running their own research laboratory wishing to visit a laboratory in EMBC Member States, Associate Member States or Cooperation Partners. Projects must have a biological significance and should aim to increase our knowledge on a particular biological process. The application must involve tangible objectives such as a research project at the host laboratory or development of a defined grant proposal. New collaborations are favoured. There is no deadline for applications and evaluations take place throughout the year. However, it is recommended to apply three months before the proposed starting date. At a minimum, applications must be submitted one month (30 days) before the start date of the first visit. LECTURE SERIES Funding for lecture series in participating countries The aim of the series is to increase interactions between scientists, and participation in the EMBO Programmes throughout Europe. The inviting institutions receive funds to cover travel and accommodation for the lecturer. Two to three lectures at different institutions in the host country need to be combined to be eligible for this support. Per lecture series, the host institutes are supported with a maximum of 1,500 euros, or 2,500 euros when lecturers travel from overseas. Applications are accepted throughout the year. SOLIDARITY GRANTS Supporting life scientists displaced by armed conflicts The grants will be available as one-year stipends for researchers to start, continue or finish their PhD thesis, and for post-doctoral researchers and for research stays by scientists at the professorial and group leader level. Accepting applications from January 2023. Application deadline: 15 February 2023. For more information, please visit the following website:
